The Shaghaf Fellowship equips emerging nonprofit leaders with the skills, tenacity and vision they need to uplift the social sector, and become effective agents of change.
Shaghaf, which means ‘passion’ in Arabic, is an intensive development programme fostering a pipeline of future nonprofit leaders. The fellowship, formed in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focuses on giving talented young Saudis the knowledge and support they need to elevate the nonprofit sector, and grow its impact.
Over a 16-month period, fellows work full-time with a Saudi-based nonprofit, participate in quarterly workshops, and benefit from ongoing mentoring. They also attend an immersive training programme in nonprofit management at Columbia Business School in New York, and participate in a trip to the Gates Foundation in Seattle, to see the work of some of the world’s leading nonprofits in action. Our model means fellows gain first-hand exposure to global best practices, and then have the opportunity to apply this knowledge to their careers.
The Shaghaf Fellowship represents a fast-track path to leadership, and an opportunity to take action on issues that make a difference to society.
